For the first time ever, former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher visited the Philippines for a major solo concert! Fans of different ages gathered at the Mall of Asia Arena to see the iconic singer perform in the flesh last night.
The singer (who is currently on tour to promote his upcoming first solo record, As You Were) electrified the crowd in attendance. To his Filipino fans, Liam’s legacy as a musician will definitely live forever. Before his concert, he admitted that he liked Filipinos as soon as he landed here in Manila. “I like people who smile a lot..The people are nice and smiling so that pushed me to good mood”, he said.
His good mood translated into an awesome show with his spot on vocals all thoughout his set - a far cry from his recent vocal issues that caused him to cut short his festival set.
The 44-year old British rocker opened the night with an Oasis classic, “Rock 'N' Roll Star”, followed by “Morning Glory”. Afterwards, he introduced and played the the first single of his new album, “Wall Of Glass”. Of course, Liam played new songs from As You Were and continued rocking out without much talking. His Filipino fans were able to hear new tracks such as “Greedy Soul”, “Chinatown”, “For What It’s Worth”, “You Better Run”, and “Universal Gleam” live for the first time.
Towards the end of his set, Liam sang another Oasis hit “Be Here Now” and walked off the stage. He came back shortly after and gave an encore acoustic performance of one of Oasis' biggest hits ever, “Wonderwall”. His fans were left craving for more after his more than an hour-long set.
